About the Project
For over 5 years, Dev Bhoomi Samiti has been supporting some of the most neglected individuals in Uttarakhand — 370+ leprosy survivors who have been abandoned by society and even their own families.
These elderly survivors live in old leprosy colonies with leaking roofs, damaged walls, and no access to food, medicine, or basic care. Many have lost fingers, toes, or the ability to walk. Some cannot cook or feed themselves without assistance.

Why This Support Is Urgently Needed
Every visit to these colonies reveals heartbreaking truths:
- Many elderly survivors sleep hungry
- Most suffer from wounds that need daily dressing
- Some cannot walk and depend completely on wheelchairs
- Many women were abandoned in early childhood
- Houses leak during rain and lack warm shelter in winter
- They have no income, no savings, and no support
